OGDEN, Utah – Weber State scored early and often against Eastern Washington as the Wildcats raced to a 45-21 win, improving to 5-0.

No. 7 Weber State hosted the Eastern Washington Eagles at Stewart Stadium in Ogden, UT on Saturday, October 8.

The team clad in purple didn’t wait long to get on the scoreboard as quarterback Bronson Barron found Ty MacPherson with a 65-yard play action bomb down the middle of the field. After Barron play-faked to running back Josh Davis, he stepped into the pocket and lofted a beautiful ball to a sprinting MacPherson who had found his way behind the Eagles secondary.

Following a 10-play, 66 yard touchdown drive from Eastern Washington, Weber State’s offense struck again.

This time it was a 22 rush from Dontae McMillan that put the Wildcats on top 14-7 at the end of one quarter.

ESU drove 99 yards on their next possession, scoring a touchdown through the air when Gunner Talkington hit Freddie Roberson with a 27-yard strike.

Abraham Williams didn’t want to wait for the offense to scoring, instead opting to take the Eagles following kickoff 100-yards for a kick-return touchdown. Williams score put Weber State back on top, 21-14.

In the second half, a Bronson Barron fumble was picked up by Eastern Washington and returned for a touchdown, tying the game at 21 apiece.

It was all Wildcats from there as Weber State scored 24 unanswered points to pull away.

Later in the third, sophomore kicker Kyle Thompson added a 49-yard field goal to make the score 24-21.

After forcing an ESU turnover, McMillan scored his rushing touchdown of the day, this time from seven yards out to increase the Wildcat lead to 31-21.

Weber State added a pair of fourth quarter rushing touchdowns. Damon Bankston scored from four yards out. Kris Jackson added a one-yard scoring plunge to make it 45-21.

Barron finished 16-for-22 for 237 yards and a touchdown. Bankston ran for 94 yards and a score on 14 carries with McMillan adding 93 rushing yards and two scores.

Ty Macpherson ended the game with a team high six receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown.
