SALT LAKE CITY – Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett announced that former Utah Utes and current Denver offensive lineman Garett Bolles would miss the rest of the 2022 season.
Hackett broke the news on Friday, October 7.
“Injuries are things as a coach, I can’t control,” Hackett said. “They’re long-term things. I can only go to the drawing board and grind, and try to find ways to put people in good positions and the new guys are going to have to go in there. We have to find a way to make them successful.”
A day earlier, Bolles and the Broncos suffered a 12-9 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football.
The former Ute was carted off the field after suffering a leg injury in the fourth quarter.

Denver’s next game is on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, October 17 at 6:15 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN.
About Garett Bolles
Prior to his time in the NFL, Bolles was a standout player at Westlake High, Snow College, and the University of Utah.
In 2017, the Broncos selected Bolles with the No. 20 overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Before the 2020 season, the former Ute signed a four-year contract extension with the Broncos. Bolles’ deal was worth nearly $70 million. Following some early struggles with penalties to start his NFL career, Bolles has become a solid offensive lineman for the Broncos.
Bolles has only missed four games during his NFL career.
