Jazz Forward Markkanen Makes Fading Shot For First Preseason Points

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Lauri Markkanen scored the first points in the preseason contest between the Utah Jazz and Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors hosted the Jazz at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Sunday, October 2.
With 10:57 remaining in the opening quarter, Markkanen found some space in the paint with a fadeaway that swished through the net for Utah’s first points of the preseason game.
Markkanen’s shot put the Jazz up 2-0.

The game’s first timeout came at the 6:24 mark with the Raptors owning a 14-10 advantage.
Markkanen led the Jazz with four points on 2-4 shooting. He added one rebounds during his first five minutes on the court. Malik Beasley and Mike Conley added three points apiece.

Last season with the Cavs, the Arizona product averaged 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per contest.
Utah’s game against Toronto is broadcast on AT&T SportsNet, NBA TV, and KSL Sports Zone.
Jazz vs. Raptors
The Jazz opened preseason play on Sunday, against the Raptors in a game played in Edmonton as part of the NBA Canada Series.
After their game against the Raptors, the Jazz will travel to Portland to face Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers on October 4 at 8 pm MT.
The Jazz will conclude their preseason schedule at home, hosting the San Antonio Spurs on October 11 and the Dallas Mavericks on October 14. Both games will tip off at Vivint Arena at 7 pm MT.
The regular season opens for the Jazz against the Denver Nuggets on October 19 at Vivint Arena.
New Look Jazz Will Make Preseason Debut
The Jazz showed off a new look when they took the court in Edmonton to open the preseason wearing black jerseys.
The team released four jerseys over the summer that will be worn by the team during the upcoming season including white, black, yellow, and purple throwback mountain uniforms.
