SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson tossed his first touchdown pass of the season to give his team life against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers hosted the Jets at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, October 2.
With 7:31 left in the fourth quarter, the former BYU standout connected with Corey Davis for five yards and six points to make it one-score game.

The touchdown capped an 11-play, 81-yard drive that lasted 6:05.
After the throw, Wilson was 13/31 passing for 195 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He also had two carries for 15 yards and one catch for two yards and a touchdown.
Wilson’s first score came with 12:37 remaining in the first half. After handing the ball off, the Jets pulled off a double reverse before Braxton Berrios hit a wide-open Wilson for a two-yard touchdown pass. The quarterback celebrated the score with a “griddy” dance in the end zone. Wilson’s reception gave the Jets a 10-0 lead.

Return From Injury
The Week 4 contest was the first of the season for the former BYU star. Earlier in the week, Wilson was cleared to return to the field by doctors after he suffered a torn meniscus and bone bruise in his leg during the Jets’ preseason opener.
He underwent surgery to repair the damage. Shortly before the Jets’ regular-season opener, they ruled Wilson out until at least Week 4.
Without Wilson, the Jets have opened the 2022 season with a 1-2 record. Joe Flacco started in place of Wilson during those three contests.
During Wilson’s rookie campaign last season, the former BYU gunslinger missed four games because of a knee injury and threw for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with a 55.6 completion rate.
Before his time in the NFL, the Corner Canyon High School product had a standout career at BYU. Wilson helped the Cougars to an 11-1 record during his final season in Provo.
New York’s game against Pittsburgh is televised on CBS.
