Report: Lions RB Jamaal Williams Fined For TD Celebration Dance

SALT LAKE CITY – Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams reportedly received a fine from the NFL for celebrating a touchdown during Week 3.

On Saturday, October 1, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the league fined Williams for an excessive touchdown celebration after scoring for the second time against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, September 25.
“The NFL fined #Lions RB Jamaal Williams $13,261 for excessive sexiness — I mean, unsportsmanlike conduct — on his touchdown dance last week. That’s $3,315.25 per pump,” the NFL insider tweeted.

During Detroit’s 28-24 loss, Williams broke loose for 13 yards and six points. It was his second score of the game and gave the Lions a 10-point lead at the time.
The former BYU star celebrated the touchdown with a celebratory dance based on a kit from the Key & Peele show featuring Keegan-Michael Key, a famous Lions fan.
Williams was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for the “excessive” dance.

After the score, Williams had 10 carries for 49 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the game with 20 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two receptions for 20 yards.
The running back is in his sixth NFL season and second with the Lions. This season, Williams had run for 168 yards and four touchdowns on 43 rushes.
Prior to his time in the NFL, Williams was a star running back at BYU from 2012-16. During his college career, he ran for 3,901 yards and 35 touchdowns.
Detroit’s Next Game
Detroit currently owns a 1-2 record.
The Lions’ next game is at home against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, October 2 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on FOX. Williams is likely to start the game and be Detroit’s primary back as D’Andre Swift deals with an injury.
