Former Utes Share Excitement After Clark Phillips’ Third INT

SALT LAKE CITY – A historic game for a Utah defender as star cornerback Clark Phillips III recorded three interceptions against Oregon State.
In three seasons with the Utes, Phillips has had a pick-six in each year in Salt Lake City.
Since the start of the 2021 season, Utah has had five interceptions returned for touchdowns, which is the most in the Pac-12. In Utah football history, Phillips is tied for second for the most career pick-sixes, along with Devin Lloyd and Eric Weddle. Andre Dyson has the most in program history with four.
Phillips has four interceptions this season with all coming in the last two games.
Breakdown Of Each Interception
The first interception by Clark Phillips was impressive as he ripped the ball away from the Oregon State receiver. Three plays later, Cam Rising threw a fade to Jaylen Dixon for a 19-yard touchdown. That gave Utah a 7-0 lead with 13:03 remaining in the first quarter.

The second pick came later in the first quarter after Oregon State scored on their next possession, Utah’s defense made them pay on the third drive. Chance Nolan threw to his wide receiver when Phillips used his speed and athleticism to jump the route and intercept the pass.
The All-Pac-12 performer took the ball 38-yards for a touchdown to give the Utes a 14-7 lead with 7:21 remaining in the opening quarter.
