Reports: Utah State QB Logan Bonner Out Against BYU

PROVO – Utah State starting quarterback Logan Bonner won’t play during the Aggies’ rivalry game agains the No. 19 BYU Cougars, according to multiple reports.
The Cougars (3-1) are scheduled to host the Aggies (1-3) at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Thursday, September 29.
A few hours before kickoff, ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel reported that Bonner would not dress in the “Battle for the Old Wagon Wheel.” The insider added that former Orem High standout Cooper Legas would start in place of Bonner.

Last season, Bonner suffered a season-ending injury and has been under heavy pressure throughout Utah State’s first four games of the 2022 season.

This season, Bonner has thrown for 754 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 56.4 completion rate. In Week 4, Bonner threw five interceptions in a 34-24 loss to UNLV.
The Aggies have dropped three straight games after a season-opening win against the UConn Huskies.
In 2021, Bonner’s first season with USU, the former Arkansas State signal-caller threw for 3,560 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He helped lead the Aggies to their first Mountain West Conference title and a bid to the LA Bowl.
Bonner suffered a knee injury in Utah State’s 24-13 win over the Oregon State Beavers in the bowl game. Legas replaced the injured Bonner and led the Aggies to an 11-point win over the Beavers. The former Orem Tiger ended the contest 11/20 passing for 171 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Legas has seen action in two games this season. He’s thrown for 40 yards and a pick on 7/17 passing. He’s also run for 20 yards on seven carries. During his college career, Legas has thrown for a total of 211 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions with a 48.6 completion percentage.
