SALT LAKE CITY- After electing to “run it back” rather than go to the NFL, Utah tight end Brant Kuithe’s senior year came to a shocking end Saturday night in Tempe. Since the injury last weekend, Kuithe has been silent until he posted a message of encouragement and thanks to his Twitter Tuesday afternoon.
Thank you to John for sending this to me. Scary but optimistic about the future. embracing everything that comes with it. Also, thank you to everyone that’s reached out, it means a lot! I’ll be back better than before.. pic.twitter.com/zO2gH0MNm5

Kuithe notes in the post that he is both scared and optimistic about his future which is understandable as it is dependent on several variables that most likely are still unknown right now. How long will the healing process be? Will he still get a good Draft grade? Will he be able to participate in Pro Day or mini camps?
Despite the unknowns it seems hard to believe he would be passed on with his body of work up to this point. Head coach Kyle Whittingham also noted in Monday Press Conference that Kuithe does have a redshirt available to him if he should need or want. While not knowing exactly where your future is leading can be scary, it has to be of some comfort to know there are options to fall back on.
Kuithe finished by acknowledging everyone who has reached out to him and offered their words of encouragement, noting it has meant a lot.
Kuithe And The ‘Mamba Mentality’
Outside of Kuithe’s direct words was a screenshot of some words of wisdom from the late, great Kobe Bryant.
In the post, Bryant talks about the grieving process of an injury for an athlete that is on top of their game which certainly fits Kuithe’s situation. Bryant encourages the reader to get the grief out so that they can then move on and be better.
While there will be ups and downs for Kuithe- or any athlete on their journey to recovery, Bryant says to appreciate the little milestones along the way until recover has been achieved.
