SALT LAKE CITY- Utah will wear their Ute Proud uniforms in week three against San Diego State. The attire has a new take on the Ute Proud helmet they have worn the past few seasons.

Per usual, the Utes will be wearing a Drum and Feather logo and stripe down the middle of the helmet that both feature a Ute Tribe design. However, instead of using the white helmet like they have been, they’ve decided to go with a black helmet in 2022. The Utah equipment staff added a red face mask and a “22 % Better” chin strap as well. Utah will wear their black base jersey with red pants.

It’s a much needed refresh to a look and game that has become a fan favorite over the years. The University of Utah in conjunction with the Ute Tribe introduced Ute Proud games in 2014 among the athletic department as a way to celebrate and educate the public on the Utes. The Tribe has been heavily involved not only in the designs used for the Ute Proud games/apparel, but also have contributed a halftime show that showcases their tribal dances and culture for everyone in attendance.
