Prepare for another late-night contest at LaVell Edwards Stadium. BYU versus Wyoming will kick off at 8:15 p.m. (MT) and will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2. ESPN is likely waiting on the result from BYU’s game against No. 25 Oregon on September 17 in Eugene.
BYU has proven to be an excellent night team. The Cougars have won their last 12 games played in the evening, including a 26-20 double-overtime win over future Big 12 foe Baylor.
When BYU and Wyoming square off later this month, it will be the 79th meeting between the two programs. BYU holds an all-time series lead of 45-30-3 against the Pokes.
It’s the second time in the Kalani Sitake era that the two schools have faced each other. The first meeting was in the 2016 Poinsettia Bowl, Sitake’s first bowl victory as BYU’s head coach.
You have to go back to 2010 to find the last time these two former conference rivals played. That was BYU’s last year in the Mountain West.
The 2022 meeting is the first of a two-game series. BYU will make a return trip to Laramie, Wyoming, on September 14, 2024. That game is believed to remain on BYU’s future non-conference schedules as it was moved up two weeks from its original September 28, 2024 date after BYU accepted an invitation to the Big 12 Conference.
