No. 2 Lehi Stuns No. 3 Corner Canyon With Thrilling Comeback Win

SALT LAKE CITY – The second-ranked Lehi Pioneers defeated the third-ranked Corner Canyon Chargers 25-24 in a thrilling comeback on the road on Friday.
#2 Lehi (5A) 25 @ #3 Corner Canyon 24
Corner Canyon jumped out to a 24-0 lead and had that advantage until early in the third quarter over Lehi. Isaac Wilson threw a touchdown pass to Tate Kjar, while also running in a score. Drew Patterson had a rushing touchdown for the Chargers. Midway through the third quarter, Jackson Brousseau found Kolton Tanner for a touchdown. Brousseau would then connect with Makafefie Havea and Jace John, while Kolose Latu ran in a touchdown. Corner Canyon had a chance to win the game with a field goal but it was blocked by Lehi.

Here are all of the results in the 6A classification from the fifth week of the 2022 high school football season.
Region 1
#24 Layton 6 @ Fremont 20
Fremont jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the third quarter before Layton scored their only touchdown. Brigg Grange ran in both of Fremont’s rushing touchdowns. Braxton Martin had the lone TD for the Lancers.
#7 Farmington 42 @ Clearfield 13
Clearfield had a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter off of a Tanner Hittle punt return for a touchdown. But Farmington scored 29 unanswered points in the second quarter and that was the difference in the game. Easton Wright threw five touchdowns, finding Mitch Nielsen and Zach Quinton twice, and once to Dayton Runyan. Adam Stucki had a special teams touchdown for the Phoenix.
#25 Syracuse 42 @ Weber 17
It was all Syracuse from the opening kickoff. Jake Hopkins threw his lone passing touchdown to DJ Mayes. Kobe Bennett led the charge with two rushing touchdowns, while Jake Metcalfe added one score on the ground.
Region 2
Cyprus 26 @ Taylorsville 16
Taylorsville had a 19-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter before Cyprus got two rushing TD’s from Skyler Armenta. Jeff Griffith and Julian Garcia each ran in a touchdown for the Pirates. For Taylorsville, Manny Gustman ran in a score, while Cole Kramer threw a TD to Tyler Kirkman. Jordan Karle recovered a fumble for a touchdown.
Granger 21 @ Hunter 0
Landon Figueroa’s pick-six and Elijah Scott’s rushing touchdown lifted the Lancers past the Wolverines in Region 2 action.
West 49 @ Roy 19
Isaiah SueSue threw two touchdowns and ran in two scores for West in their road win. He connected with Charlie Holbrook and Kingsley Brown. Tai Arona and Efoti Vaenuku each ran in a touchdown.
Non-Region
#13 Pleasant Grove 24 @ #12 Riverton 21
The Vikings held a 17-7 lead in the second quarter before Riverton took a 21-17 lead at halftime. Only one touchdown was scored in the second half and that was by PG. Nic Staffieri threw two touchdown passes, hitting Jaeden Wright and Shawn Cottle. Wade Christiansen added a rushing TD. For Riverton, Jake Meyers found Sam Woolley for a score. Easton Hicks posted a rushing touchdown.
Kearns 6 @ Herriman 39
Freddy Ta’Ai had three passing touchdowns, one each to Chachi Pan, Kaden Hansen, and Carson Grundy. Jack Lounsbury and Ta’Ai ran in touchdowns in their blowout win over Kearns.
#5 American Fork 10 @ #11 Bingham 28
Dallen Martinez had four total touchdowns, two passing and two rushing in Bingham’s upset win over AF. He connected with Nate Parker and Maddax Peck. Maximos Edwards ran in American Fork’s only touchdown.
Alta (5A) 16 @ Davis 28
Jackson Stevens threw two touchdown passes in Davis’ win over Alta. He connected with Tyson Elkins and Tyce Wilson. Josh Barker added two rushing touchdowns in the win.
#11 Mountain Ridge 42 @ Westlake 43 (2OT)
Mountain Ridge had a 28-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter before Westlake stormed back with 21 unanswered points to force overtime. Both teams scored touchdowns in the first overtime to force the second OT. The Sentinels scored first in the second overtime. Westlake answered with a score of their own and picked up the two-point conversion and the massive upset win.
For Mountain Ridge, Jaxson Reiser threw three touchdowns, finding Kai Meza twice and Payton Jones once. Reiser also ran in a touchdown, while Semisi Kinikini had two rushing scores. For Westlake, Aiden Bayless threw four touchdowns, connecting with Carter Quiring twice and once each to Landon Rasmussen and Maverick McManus.
Jordan (5A) 0 @ Copper Hills 42
Hyrum Perkins threw two touchdowns in the win, finding Triston Hoggan and Zach Nope. Nate Kitchen and Kenny Banza each ran in two touchdowns in the Grizzlies’ shutout win.
Highland (AZ) 0 @ #6 Lone Peak 13
A defensive battle helped Lone Peak knock off Arizona’s Highland High School. Kaden Hodson threw the Knight’s lone touchdown to Cole Christensen.
