Utes Going With Classic Red Look In Week Two

SALT LAKE CITY- The Utes will be wearing their classic all-red look for their home opener against Southern Utah University. Last week they wore their throw-back all-white uniforms against Florida.

Utah running back Micah Bernard revealed the look on Instagram for the Utes, showing off their base red uniforms with their candy apple red helmets that feature the “Utah stripe” and Drum and Feather logo. Last season, the team shied away from using their red helmets toward the end of the season due to losing every game they wore them in. It appears they are going to give them another shot in 2022.
In 2021, Utah opened the season with black helmets, red jerseys, and red pants against Weber State. The first time they wore the all-red combo was in their loss to BYU in Provo. Against San Diego State, the Utes sported red helmets with white jerseys and red pants.
When they returned home to face Washington State, Utah wore their throwback uniforms with white helmets, red jerseys, and white pants. Utah went to USC for the next game and wore the all-white combo and knocked off the Trojans.
The Arizona State game was the Ute Proud game with a customized white helmet with black jerseys and white pants. On the road against Oregon State, Utah wore red helmets with white jerseys and pants.
The Utes’ “Dark Mode” game was against UCLA. On the road against Stanford, Utah wore black helmets, white jerseys, and black pants. At Arizona, they had white helmets with red jerseys and pants. When Utah faced Oregon at home, they wore the USS Salt Lake City uniforms. On Senior Day against Colorado, the Utes sported the “TJAL, 22 Forever” helmets with red jerseys and white pants.
In the Pac-12 Championship game, Utah had white helmets with black jerseys and pants. When Utah faced Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, they had the same uniform combination that they wore last week against Florida but had a rose in the interlocking U on their helmet.
Utah and Southern Utah will square off on Saturday, September 10 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Kickoff is at 11:30 a.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network.
