With the Aggies trailing 14-7, Briggs took a handoff from quarterback Logan Bonner. Briggs did the rest as he ran off the left side of the Aggie offensive line, turned a corner and saw nothing but daylight on a 23-yard touchdown run.
Briggs’ backfield partner, Calvin Tyler Jr., gave a tip of the cap to the offensive line’s ability to open holes in his postgame comments.
“They played lights out,” Tyler Jr. said of the Aggies offensive line. “I knew we were gonna have a good day when guys stay with it. I’m just so proud of the whole line.”

“We’re learning kind of who we are, as an offense. A lot of new guys out there on the field. Learning how we’re going to respond. Who’s going to make plays,” head coach Blake Anderson said. “For Briggs to come in and have the kind of day he had, that is encouraging.”
The previous Aggie freshman rushing record was set by quarterback Kent Myers, who ran for 28 yards on three carries against UNLV in 2014.
USU’s 261 rushing yards as a team on 54 carries each mark the most for an Aggie team since 2019.
