SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz reportedly are applying pressure around the league to get a Donovan Mitchell trade completed before training camp starts in late September.
According to Brian Windhorst and Tim MacMahon of ESPN, the Jazz are pushing to get a deal done sooner than later.
“It sounds to me in talking to people around the league that the Jazz want to try to go even sooner than [opening night],” Windhorst told MacMahon in a podcast. “They want to go before training camp.”

The Jazz began their rebuilding process in July when they traded Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves for five players and four future draft picks, and sent Royce O’Neale to the Brooklyn Nets for an additional pick.
Earlier this week the Jazz sent Patrick Beverley to the Los Angeles Lakers for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson in an effort to get younger.
“It does sound as I’ve talked to folks in the league like the Jazz are trying to apply the gas here trying to juice the offers,” Windhorst said. “Especially juice the offer from the New York Knicks.”
Last week, reports surfaced that the Knicks had offered the Jazz Evan Fournier, Obi Toppin, and additional players to match salaries, and five future first-round draft picks, two of which were unprotected.
Cavaliers Out Of Mitchell Sweepstakes
While the Jazz continue to shop their All-Star guard, the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly pulling their name out of the Mitchell sweepstakes.
“Cleveland Cavaliers have removed themselves from Donovan Mitchell trade talks, per SNY sources,” SNY’s Ian Begley tweeted. “Doesn’t seem like there are any suitors at [the] moment who can approach what Knicks can offer Utah – even if you take RJ Barrett off the table. So this trade is still NYK’s to lose.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly been unwilling to offer Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, or Evan Mobley in trade talks.
The Jazz have been rumored to be interested in Cavaliers’ free agent Colin Sexton who remains unsigned.
