Matt Bushman Scores Multiple NFL Touchdowns Then Suffers Injury

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU tight end Matt Bushman had a night.
It started as a great night, then later became frustrating for the second-year NFL player.

Bushman appeared to be making a solid case to earn a roster spot with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The former BYU star hauled in two touchdown catches during the Chiefs final preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
Bushman’s first touchdown grab was an explosive play that resulted in a 54-yard touchdown.
Bushman finished the night with three receptions for 73 yards.

But on his final catch, Bushman had to leave the game early due to a shoulder injury. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in the postgame press conference that Bushman “fractured his clavicle.”

Bushman is on a Chiefs roster that currently has six tight ends. The group leader is Travis Kelce, who enters his 10th season with the Chiefs.
Blake Bell is dealing with a hip injury, and it’s unclear if he will be on the injured reserve to begin the season.
That leaves three other tight ends in Jody Fortson, Jordan Franks, and Noah Gray. Along with Bushman.
Bushman was a standout tight end at BYU. He started in 27 games during his three seasons with the Cougars, recording 1,719 receiving yards on 125 receptions and nine touchdowns.
His senior season in 2020 was over before it started as he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.
He bounced back from that injury and earned an undrafted free agent spot with the Las Vegas Raiders last season.
