SALT LAKE CITY-ย Everybody’s mind may be on the upcoming football season, but basketball season is around the corner too. “We’ve put together a fantastic non-conference schedule,” remarked head coach Lynne Roberts. “We have a really talented and motivated group returning, and we wanted to challenge them, as we always have to prepare for the incredibly competitive Pac-12 conference. We are looking forward to participating in the Pac-12 / HBCU alliance by playing at Mississippi Valley State, and we are very excited for the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship, where we will play two extremely competitive SEC teams, in Alabama and Ole Miss. We are all ready for this upcoming season and excited to get going.”
Breaking Down The Schedule
The Utes path to their first appearance in the Pac-12 Conference Championship Game and NCCA appearance in 11 seasons wasn’t always the most linear. Injuries mostly plagued Roberts’ group, but never deterred them from pushing ahead where they were finally rewarded in the 2021-2022 season. With newfound swag, Roberts and the Utes want to build off last year’s success starting with their 2022-2023 non-conference schedule.
Their first game back in the Huntsman Center will be an exhibition on October 27th against Northwest Nazarene. November 1st the Utes will close out their exhibition play against Westminster.
Utah will open up the season with four straight home games starting with Idaho on November 7th and then closing out the first week with Utah Valley on November 11th followed by Southeastern Louisiana on November 13th.
Before the Utes hit the road for four games they will host Oklahoma on November 16th.
From November 21st -23rd the Utes will be playing in the Bahamas participating in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship. They tip-off the tournament starting with Alabama on November 21st and wrap it up with Ole Miss on November 23rd.
Utah will then hit Mississippi Valley State on December 1st and then take on rival BYU in Provo on December 10th.
The Utes will then be back home to face UC Riverside on December 17th, drive north to take on Weber State on December 20th before wrapping up non-conference hosting the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on December 22nd.
