SALT LAKE CITY – The Lone Peak Knights scored in all three phases as they leave the state of California with a 49-20 win against Bishop Alemany on Friday.

Here are all of the results in the 6A classification from the second week of the 2022 high school football season.

Non-Region

Woods Cross (5A) 27 @ Kearns 13 (Thurs.)

The Cougars started the game with a pair of field goals. Woods Cross countered with a FG of their own in the second quarter before Tayvion Rodarte scored Kearns’ first touchdown of the game. That would be the last time Kearns would score as Woods Cross scored 24 unanswered. They made another field goal before getting rushing TD’s from Cash Henderson and Jacob Howes. Lock Smoot also threw a 40-yard TD to Brock Tandy.

#23 Brighton 24 (5A) @ Syracuse 17

The Bengals took a 13-10 lead into the half and never relinquished control. Jack Johnson throws three scores on the day including a third-quarter 40 yard dot to Donovan Wismer.  Brighton moves to 1-1 on the year while Syracuse falls to 0-2.

Fremont 21 @ Roy 34

Roy outscores Fremont 17-14 in the second half to retain a 17-point first-half lead and take the win. Royals passer Dru Gardiner tosses four touchdowns in the win. Cove Rodriguez catches a touchdown from Gardiner and Fremont passer Bodee Goins throws one touchdown in the loss.

Davis 0 @ West Jordan 34

The Jags move to 2-0 on the season and shut out the Darts. A 21-point third quarter secures the win for West Jordan. Dameon Crosby threw for three touchdowns in the win.

Jordan 20 (5A) @ Taylorsville 27

The Beetdigger’s fourth-quarter comeback comes up just shy and Taylorsville gets the win. Matthew Griffiths takes a fourth-quarter pick to the house to shut down the comeback. Leland Ako runs for two touchdowns in the win.

Highland 14 (5A) @ Cyprus 16

Skyler Armentas’ six-yard touchdown run lifts Cyprus over Highland in what can only be described as a defensive slobber knocker. Cyprus move to 2-0 on the season.

#4 American Fork 48 @ #18 Weber 22

The Cavemen got off to a great start with 35 points in the first half and held Weber to 16. The Warriors scored six points in the third quarter to make things interesting but American Fork outscored Weber 13-0 in the fourth to pull off the win. Champion Edwards and Lincoln Jackson each threw two touchdown passes for AF, finding Josh Andrus, Lucas Segura, Aiden Cage and Jace Hill. Aidan Carter had three touchdown passes, connecting with Braylon Parker, Salesi Moa and Tyler Payne.

The Thunderbirds jumped out to a 28-7 first-half lead and never looked back. Quezon Villa and Helaman Casuga each threw two touchdowns, finding Tei Nacua twice and once each to Jaxon Allred and Jared Esplin. Villa also ran in two touchdowns.

#17 East 0 (5A) @ #1 Skyridge 42

The No. 1 team in the state showed how good they are by shutting out East. McCae Hillstead had one passing touchdown to La’akea Kalama and ran in a score. Collin Sheffield ran in two touchdowns while Tate Walker had one score on the ground. Stephan Terripaia returned a blocked kick for a 75-yard touchdown.

A close game at Granger with Mountain Ridge scoring 10 points in the second quarter. They got a touchdown from Jaxson Reiser to Jaren Dickson and a field goal. Ricky Mamone found Matthew Jones for a touchdown to pull the Lancers within three points in the fourth but it wasn’t enough to pull off the upset.

Northridge 28 @ #25 Layton 45

The Lancers put up 28 points in the first half and that was enough to take down Northridge. Tyler Wensel threw two touchdown passes, one to Trey Reid and one to Elias Parkinson. Wensel also added a rushing score. Braxton Martin found the end zone twice on the ground for Layton.

#6 West Panthers 0 @ Mater Dei (CA) 42

It was a tough night for the Panthers against one of the best programs in the country.

Alta 27 (5A) @ Westlake 20

Alta jumped out to a 20-7 lead in the first half but only scored one touchdown in the second half. Westlake fought back and scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough.
