SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake is yet to experience the emotion of consecutive losses in 2022. Under manager Pablo Mastroeni following a loss, Real Salt Lake boasts a record of 10 wins, 1 loss, and 4 draws.

Remarkably, the record has played a key role in the resurgence of Real Salt Lake under Mastroeni’s guidance. RSL, like most MLS clubs, has played and recorded positive results while also going through stretches of poor form.
But while RSL has endured rough stretches throughout the 2022 season, it has yet to experience the pain of consecutive losses. A statistic very few MLS clubs can boast.
Real Salt lake Trending Upwards
The continued stability on the pitch is a reflection of how the club is operating. Under new ownership, Real Salt Lake has taken leaps from the dark days of the Dell Loy Hansen reign. Mastroeni has played a pivotal role in the resurgence of the club.
When Mastroeni took over as the interim manager in the middle of last season, he has continued to preach the importance of achieving mental fortitude. The word “mentality” has been spoken by Mastroeni and his players ad naseum throughout countless press conferences this year and last.
It seems, given that RSL is yet to lose consecutive games in 2022, that his preaching is having an effect.
Following the 6-0 drumming that RSL sustained on the road against New York City on April 17, 2022, the press conference immediately following the game was not filled with blame and embarresment, as one may expect. Rather, Mastroeni and his players expressed their desire and willingness to learn from their mistakes in an effort to ensure that a result of that magnitude doesnt happen again anytime soon.
Without question Real Salt Lake is trending upwards under Mastroeni. The inevitable loss every now and then is nowadays accepted and responded with a determination often portrayed in winning organizations around the world. The final quarter of an hour against Seattle last weekend was a fine example of that.
