SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake has loaned Bret Halsey to the Colorado Switchbacks F.C. of the USL Championship for the remainder of the season, the club has announced.
RSL reserves the right to terminate the loan agreement as necessary.
Halsey, 22, joined Real Salt Lake in 2021 after being selected with the 7th overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft. He was also a member of Generation Adidas following his terrific collegiate career at the University of Virginia.
Bret Halsey is joining the Colorado Springs Switchbacks for the remainder of the 2022 season.

Halsey has been battling injury in 2022 and has only appeared in 3 matches for the Real Monarchs in the MLS Next Pro competition. Last year, however, Halsey played in 19 games for the Monarchs while they were still members of the USL Championship. Halsey began playing at the right-back position but also spent time playing in the heart of the midfield.
Currently, the Colorado Switchbacks are positioned third in the Western Conference of the USL Championship behind only San Diego Loyal and San Antonio. The change in scenery for Halsey will provide another opportunity for the talented youngster to develop his skillset and return to RSL with the hope of impressing management during next years pre-season.
