Jets GM Joe Douglas Raves About Zach Wilson’s Confidence

SALT LAKE CITY – New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas spoke glowingly about second year quarterback Zack Wilson as he enter’s training camp.
The Jets drafted Wilson out of BYU second overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Douglas, who along with head coach Robert Saleh, took Wilson as their quarterback of the future following Wilson’s junior season with the Cougars. Douglas didn’t waver on the selection, mentioning Wilson’s ‘obsession’ with the sport.
“The thing you love about Zach is his confidence never sways. His work ethic never dips. You talk about a guy that’s obsessed with football. He’s obsessed with getting better.”

That’s the right type of attitude to have out of the second-year signal caller for a franchise that has been in perpetual rebuild mode since the days of Mark Sanchez or perhaps as far back as Vinny Testaverde.
The Jets hope is that Wilson will be able to take the next step in leading a team that added talent on both sides of the ball in hopes of complementing the young quarterback.

New York added wide receiver Garrett Wilson out of Ohio State, selecting him with the tenth overall pick in the first round. Armed with two addition first round picks, the Jets selected a pair of defenders in defensive back Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner and Jermaine Johnson off of the edge.
“It’s gonna be fun to see him go from rookie year, progress to OTA’s (organized team activities), and then see how his training camp develops,” Douglas said.

After bouncing back from the injury, Wilson saw his play improve down the final stretch of New York’s schedule.
