PROVO, Utah – Springville High quarterback Ryder Burton has had a productive summer. In May, he committed to his dream school, BYU, and more recruiting clout has followed.
When the 6-foot-2, 180-pound signal caller in the 2023 class committed to BYU, he wasn’t rated by any of the recruiting services. Now, Burton is a three-star prospect and the No. 65 signal-caller nationally in the class of 2023.
Ryder Burton shows off arm talent with John Beck
Burton has been busy training to prepare for his final season at Springville and, eventually, his career at BYU. His trainer? Former BYU star QB John Beck at 3DQB. Beck, who has worked closely with Zach Wilson and current BYU starter Jaren Hall, is now training with Burton.

Burton highlighted one of his recent sessions with Beck in California.
During the video, Burton shows off his arm strength with throws on the run from around the 40-yard line. It’s a highlight package that shows why BYU’s offensive staff led by Aaron Roderick, extended an offer to Burton when no one else had issued offers.
Senior year at Springville High coming up for Burton
Burton produced a “top rating” at the Los Angeles regional for the Elite 11 back in June. Unfortunately for Burton, he wasn’t invited to the Elite 11 finals. Still, he continued to put in work by earning a Co-MVP nod for QBs at the Elite Underclassmen camp in Salt Lake on June 25 with Corner Canyon’s Isaac Wilson and Viewmont’s Luke Jacobs.
Last season, Burton led Springville to the state championship game before ultimately falling to Lehi in the 5A title. Burton and Springville begin their quest to get back to the title game on August 12 when they take on Dixie in St. George.
