SALT LAKE CITY – When BYU squares off against Notre Dame at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas this October, the Irish will be sporting an alternate look.

On Wednesday, Notre Dame dropped a Vegas-inspired hype video for their first-ever trip to Vegas. In the video, there was no mention of the opponent, BYU. But the Irish did unveil the alternate uniforms they will be wearing on October 8.

Notre Dame will wear Vegas-inspired uniforms

The hit 2009 movie shot in Vegas, “The Hangover,” inspired the short film. Notre Dame’s version included first-year head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive lineman Isaiah Foskey, and tight end Michael Mayer. Along with cameos from Irish alums Mike Golic Sr. and Mike Golic Jr.

The jersey and pants are white with gold trimmings. As Notre Dame put it, the gold ties into the “golden age of Las Vegas.”

Notre Dame has always worn alternate uniforms during their Shamrock Series games. The Vegas tilt with BYU falls under that banner as well. Typically Notre Dame’s opponents in the Shamrock Series games have donned alternate uniforms as well.

What will BYU wear?

So will BYU don an alternate uniform for the game? We shall see. The BYU/Notre Dame game was announced last year, so there’s been time for Director of Football Operations Billy Nixon and Equipment Manager Josh Hewitt to come together with a worthy counter to the fancy threads from the Irish.

Last season, BYU had 26 options in its uniform identity. They have not announced what options will be available for the 2022 season. BYU has unveiled a new royal blue helmet for this season called “blue lightning.”

BYU will take on Notre Dame on KSL 5 TV and KSL NewsRadio at 5:30 p.m. (MT) on October 8.
