The event will take place all day and be the first time media will get to officially hear from Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff since USC and UCLA announced they were moving to the Big Ten Conference in 2024. Undoubtedly there will be questions abound surrounding what Kliavkoff and the conference plan to do to survive with hopefully some answers to quell the swirling rumors.
Rising, Phillips III Pac-12 Media Day
Both Rising and Phillips III have been stars for the Utes after leading the program to their first-ever conference title and Rose Bowl appearance. The Pac-12 Champs will be looking for a repeat in 2022 with national pundits predicting there could be a little more instore for Utah than Rose Bowl encore. Rising and Phillips III will be on-hand at Media Day to discuss the team’s goals, how they think they will fair, and yes, probably some conference realignment stuff as well.
Rising started the 2021 season on the bench for Utah, but found himself the starter after giving the Utes a chance at a comeback against San Diego State in place of Charlie Brewer. The unflappable quarterback would finish the year 8-1 in the regular season, 9-2 counting postseason games.
Phillips III started every game for the Utes in 2021, but really set himself apart locking down Ohio State’s stable of talented receivers. As the lone cornerback starter to finish the season for Utah, Phillips III is looking to have one more big season with the Utes before most-likely turning his attention to the NFL.
Both players have received a ton of preseason accolades and praise heading into 2022, so it’s no wonder they will be the ones representing Utah on one of the Pac-12’s biggest stages.
