SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake Bees infielders Jake Palomaki and David Fletcher combined for a spectacular putout against the Tacoma Rainiers on Saturday night.
The Bees hosted Tacoma at Smith’s Ballpark in the second game of a three-game set on Saturday, July 23.
Second baseman Jake Palomaki began the play on the left side of the bag thanks to a defensive shift. Rainier Trey Amburgey lined a bouncer up the middle, forcing the umpire to hop over the hard hit ground ball. Palomaki ranged to his left, diving to smother the ball.
Immediately realizing he didn’t have a play, Palomaki used a right-handed, behind the back no-look flip to shortstop David Fletcher who fired across the diamond to retire Amburgey at first.
A simple 4-6-3 putout if you’re scoring from home.
