Tony Finau Records Solid Third Round At The Open Championship

SALT LAKE CITY – After barely making the cut on Friday, Tony Finau put in a solid performance in the third round of The Open Championship at St. Andrews.
Tony Finau needed a birdie on the 18th hole on Friday in order to finish even par and make the cut and he did just that at The Open Championship.
Now that Finau will finish the weekend at St. Andrews, he had a solid third round with a -2, 70 score. He started the front nine with a par on the first hole, followed by a bogey on No. 2. Then he made three straight pars before hitting his first birdie of the day on the sixth hole. Finau finished the front nine with two pars and an eagle on No. 9. The Rose Park native was at -2 heading into the back nine.

After making par on No. 10, Finau hit a birdie on No. 11, followed by four-straight pars. The 16th and 17th holes were trouble for Finau, recording a bogey on each hole. He finished the round with a birdie on No. 18 and even on the back nine.
For the round, Finau had one eagle, three birdies, 11 pars and three bogeys. Through three rounds at The Open Championship, Finau has one eagle, 12 birdies, 30 pars, 10 bogeys and one double bogey.
With the performance, Finau jumped 11 spots up the leaderboard to tied for 55th. He is tied with Justin De Los Santos, Jason Scrivener, Paul Casey, Marcus Armitage, Jason Kokrak, Justin Thomas, Kurt Kitayama and Yuto Katsuragawa.
