Luiz, 34, played three and a half seasons with Real Salt Lake after joining in 2019 on loan from Italian side SPAL. During his Real Salt Lake career, Luiz appeared in 82 fixtures for the Claret and Cobalt where he also managed three assists.
Recently, Luiz has fallen down the depth chart and has failed to find consistent minutes in 2022. This year, he has 12 appearances next to his name but only four of them have been in the starting XI.
Pablo Ruiz, Jasper Löffelsend, and Scott Caldwell are in favor of manager Pablo Mastroeni at the minute and will likely see additional minutes moving forward following the Luiz news.
SK Beveren, the second division club in Belgium, is also owned by Real Salt Lake majority owner David Blitzer. SK Beveren is the same club that Real Salt Lake acquired Chris Kablan from earlier in the year. Luiz will stay under the Blitzer umbrella for now.
Menéndez On Loan?
It is also being reported that Jonathan Menéndez will join Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield of the Argentina top division on a loan deal. Details are still being finalized and nothing is yet to be confirmed, but multiple outlets in Buenos Aires, Argentina, home of Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield, are reporting a deal is likely to be completed shortly.
Next Match
Real Salt Lake will travel to Atlanta for a midweek clash against a depleted Atlanta United team.
The kickoff is slated for 5:30 on Wednesday, July 13. The match will be available to stream for free via the KSL Sports and KSL 5 TV apps or on KSL Sports dot com.
