RSL Forward Bobby Wood Undergoes Successful Surgery On Left Adductor

SANDY, Utah – RSL forward Bobby Wood had successful surgery to repair his injured adductor and release a nerve, the club announced on Friday morning.
Bobby Wood left the match for RSL in their win over the San Jose Earthquakes in the 18th minute which led to the recent surgery. Real Salt Lake went on to beat San Jose 2-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium.
“This combined procedure puts Bobby in the best position to heal fully and to return this season,” states RSL Senior Director of Athlete Health and Performance Theron Enns. “The exact timeline for his return to the field will be determined later as his rehabilitation progresses, but typically this combined adductor surgery will allow Bobby to return in 8-10 weeks. RSL will update his progress in the coming weeks.”

He has scored five goals during that time, including three in his first 15 matches this season, which is tied with forward Sergio Cordova and defender Justen Glad for most on the team. Wood has scored two game-winners this season, including their 1-0 win at home on March 5 against Seattle and their 3-0 win at Rio Tinto Stadium over Houston on May 28.
Real Salt Lake will return home to face Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, June 25 at 8:00 PM MT. They will be celebrating Pride night and will host post-game fireworks. The club is expected to have its eighth straight sellout crowd on Saturday.
