REAL SALT LAKE
RSL Legend Nick Rimando Excited For Future Of Club Under New Guidance, Content In Retirement
SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah and NFL linebacker Stevenson Sylvester had never been to a game at Rio Tinto Stadium to watch Real Salt Lake play, that was, until this past weekend. During his visit, he caught up with RSL legend Nick Rimando who expressed his excitement about the trajectory of his beloved club and the impact new ownership has had in such a short amount of time.
Exciting Future
“There is a lot to be proud of. The good old days when we won the cup kind of got lost over the years but with new ownership coming in, Pablo Mastroeni the coach bringing some energy to the team, seven straight sell-out crowds, there is a lot of energy in the city, a lot of energy in the stadium, and with the new ownership and the resources that they have it is only going to get better.”

Sylvester was welcomed into the Real Salt Lake community with open arms, he began his afternoon marching into the stadium with the supporter’s groups where flairs were being sent off and drums were being beat. Then, a run-in with former RSL legend and MLS’ all-time shot blocker Nick Rimando.
Happy In Retirement
“It has been nice, just to have some time with my family and do the little things that I was not able to do as a player. Take a step back and kind of be a fan now,” Rimando said when asked how retirement has been treating him.
Real Salt Lake remain undefeated at home in 2022. They have won six games and drawn only once in the seven matches at Rio Tinto Stadium. The belief amongst the organization and the fanbase is returning and Rio Tinto Stadium is returning to the fortress that it was once known for back when Real Salt Lake was winning silverware.
RSL Continues Climb
The most recent win against San Jose moves Real Salt Lake into lone second place in the Western Conference just two points shy of supporters shield leaders LAFC.
This week, Real Salt Lake will look to add to their promising home record when they host Colombus on Saturday, June 25, with kickoff slated for 8 pm.
