SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #34 is Utah’s Jaren Kump (OL).
Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).
“Jaren Kump is an outstanding offensive lineman, very versatile, much like Braeden Daniels, is comfortable on the outside at tackle but may be pressed into some duty inside this season,” Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham said of his offensive lineman.

Utah’s Jaren Kump
Kump is a sophomore from Riverton, Utah.
Before joining the Utes ahead of the 2020 season, Kump was a standout at Herriman High School, where he played football, basketball and competed in track. He won the shot put event at the 2017 Utah State Championships and the state title in discus in 2018. In football, Kump was named first team all-state as a senior, a two-time all-region selection and first team All-USA Utah football team.
#34 in our 60in60 is Utah OT Jaren Kump. Jaren suffered a season ended last year, but should be back and healthy. Moves VERY well for a big man and can ply both sides of the line. pic.twitter.com/GBE4JBmAp4

Kump was a three-star recruit and the No. 9 ranked prospect in the state of Utah. He committed to Utah before serving a two-year church mission in Brazil. When he returned, Kump joined the Utes for the 2020 season, starting all five games at right tackle.
This past season, Kump started in four games, three at left tackle and one at right tackle before suffering a season-ending injury.
This fall, the Utes will open their 2022 schedule on the road against the Florida Gators. The Utes and Gators will play on September 3. Utah’s first home game is against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on September 10.
