BYU Football Receives Commitment From USU Transfer

SALT LAKE CITY – BYU football received a commitment from former Utah State Aggies running back Enoch Nawahine.
The Kahuku, Hawaii native shared his decision on Twitter on Sunday, June, 12.
Nawahine entered the NCAA’s transfer portal in March, according to 247Sports.

Nawahine has three years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
Prior to attending Utah State, Nawahine played at Kahuku High School in Hawaii. He was a standout player for the Red Raiders and helped Kahuku win the OIA Championship as a senior. During his final season at Kahuku, Nawahine ran the ball 153 times for 985 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also earned Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Division I-Blue Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors and was a Gatorade Player of the Year Finalist.
In 2018, Nawahine played in the Polynesian Bowl.
He originally committed to play before the Boise State Broncos before changing his commitment and signing with Utah State in 2019.
During his lone season with the Aggies in 2019, Nawahine had 16 carries for 53 yards. He also had two catches for seven yards and added a pair of tackles on special teams. He appeared in 10 games while at USU.
The Aggies listed Nawahine as a 6-1, 195 lbs. running back.
Nawahine recently served a mission in South Africa for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Nawahine joins a BYU running back room that includes Christopher Brooks, Lopini Katoa, Hinckley Ropati, Miles Davis, and Jackson McChesney.
Last season, the Cougars rushed for 2,457 yards and were led by NFL Draft pick Tyler Allgeier. The now-Atlanta Falcons running back carried the Cougars on 276 attempts for 1,606 yards and 23 touchdowns. Allgeier finished the year third in the nation in rushing. He went on to be drafted by the Falcons during the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. BYU finished its 2021 slate with a 10-3 record.
The Cougars open their 2022 schedule on the road against the USF Bulls on September 3.
