Woj: Donovan Mitchell ‘Surprised And Disappointed’ With Snyder Departure
SALT LAKE CITY – Donovan Mitchell is “surprised and disappointed” after Quin Snyder announced he was leaving the Utah Jazz on Sunday.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski released a report on the Jazz All-Star’s reaction to the news.
“Amid the reverberations of Quin Snyder’s departure after eight seasons as the Utah Jazz coach, All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell is described as “unsettled, unnerved and wondering what it means for the franchise’s future,” sources told ESPN on Sunday,” Wojnarowski wrote.

Snyder had spent eight seasons with the Jazz but was hesitant to discuss his future with the team after a disappointing first-round playoff exit last month.
“I continue to maintain that I am not going to discuss my contractual situation publicly,” Snyder said. “It’s not something I want to do or am comfortable doing.”
Snyder was the second-winningest coach in Jazz history behind only Jerry Sloan and led the franchise to six consecutive playoff appearances.
“Mitchell remains fond of Snyder and accepts his reasons for stepping down, but he’s spending the immediate aftermath of Snyder’s decision trying to process what the coach’s loss means in the larger scope for the organization and himself, sources said,” Wojnarowski wrote.
Mitchell just completed the first year of a five-year, more than $163 million where he was named to his third-consecutive All-Star team.

After the team’s earlier-than-expected exit from the postseason, the relationship between Mitchell and fellow All-Star Rudy Gobert had been called into question, and whether the two could take the Jazz beyond the second round of the playoffs.
However, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported earlier this offseason that Mitchell remained committed to the Jazz.
“At this juncture, Bradley Beal and Donovan Mitchell are both expected to remain committed to Washington and Utah, respectively, this summer,” Fischer wrote.
The Jazz will now immediately begin their head coaching search to replace Snyder.
