SALT LAKE CITY – BYU forward Gideon George reportedly withdrew his name from the NBA Draft and will return to Provo for his final season with the Cougars.

The news was first reported by Stadium’s Jeff Goodman on Sunday, May 29.

“BYU’s Gideon George has submitted the paperwork to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return to school, source told @Stadium. George averaged 8.8 points and 5.0 boards this past season,” Goodman tweeted.

In recent days, George had worked out for multiple NBA teams, including the Utah Jazz.

Although he made his choice to return to BYU before the end of May, George had until June 13 to make a final decision on the pre-draft process, which is the early entrant deadline to withdraw.

George has one year of collegiate eligibility remaining.
