Tony Finau Concludes Opening Round At Charles Scwhab Classic

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s Tony Finau has concluded his opening round at the Charles Schwab Classic with a one-over-par round. He currently finds himself five shots off the lead.
Finau endured a somewhat comfortable round considering the 15 pars on his scorecard. His opening hole began with a birdie on the par 5, he then went on to post a bogey on the par 4 6th hole to make the turn at even par. Finau’s back nine began with a bogey before finishing with seven consecutive pars.
Currently, Finau finds himself five shots back as seven players find themselves tied for the lead at four-under-par. The seven players atop the leaderboard include Webb Simpson, Patrick Reed, Scottie Scheffler, Harold Varner III, Chris Kirk, Nick Taylor, and Cameron Davis.

Last year, Finau finished the Charles Schwab Classic in a tie for 20th. The year prior a tie for 23rd, and in 2019 he finished in lone second place. The Charles Schwab Classic has proven to be a beneficial playground for Finau who has found nothing but success as of late.
The tournament comes a week after Finau finished in a T30 at the PGA Championship. Finau has managed to make the cut in his past five tournaments dating back to the 2022 Masters Tournament. The last cut Finau missed occurred at The Players Championship on March 12.
Finau will tee off the 10th tee box at 7:37 a.m. alongside Abraham Ancer and John Huh.
Fans hoping to catch Finau on Friday morning will only be able to follow his every move via PGA Tour Live which can be found exclusively on ESPN+. The Golf Channel will pick up the broadcast at 2 p.m. while CBS enters the fold for the weekend.
