Kickoff: 2 p.m. (MT)
The series between BYU and USF is tied at one game each. BYU’s last trip to Tampa was in 2019, the first start of Jaren Hall’s career as quarterback for BYU. Hall left the game early due to a concussion and BYU suffered a defeat to the Bulls in Raymond James Stadium.
Last season, the two programs met again in Provo with BYU coming out on top by a score of 35-27. BYU jumped out to a 21-0 lead on the Bulls and coasted to a victory.
This will be BYU’s first ESPNU game since the memorable 2020 contest against Coastal Carolina.
BYU vs Baylor
Date: Saturday, September 10
Kickoff: 8:15 p.m. (MT)
Another preview of Big 12 life for BYU football.
The Cougars and Bears met last year in Waco, weeks after BYU was officially invited to be one of the four new members of the Big 12. Baylor physically dominated BYU, giving Kalani Sitake’s program a reality check of how far they need to improve before they can contend with a team that emerged as the Big 12 and Sugar Bowl Champion last season.
The 2022 meeting will be the fourth all-time between the two schools. Baylor leads the series 2-1.
BYU at Oregon
Date: Saturday, September 17
Kickoff: 1:30 p.m. (MT)
BYU will travel to Eugene, Oregon, for its first trip to Autzen Stadium since 1990. The Cougars will receive a paycheck of $1.1 million to play the one-off game against the Ducks.
BYU and Oregon last met in 2006 during the Vegas Bowl, a game that BYU won 38-8.
The September 17th tilt in Eugene will be the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools. Oregon is now led by first-time head coach Dan Lanning, the defensive coordinator for the national champion Georgia Bulldogs.
BYU hasn’t played on FOX since 2018 when they faced Washington in Montlake. Kalani Sitake teams are 0-2 on FOX since 2016.
BYU vs Utah State
Date: Thursday, September 29
Kickoff: 6 p.m.
The 2022 edition of the Battle for the Old Wagon Wheel is the last in the series for the foreseeable future. Future contests between the two in-state rivals are off the books due to BYU’s move to the Big 12 Conference.
The 2022 tilt will take place on a rare Thursday night game.
BYU hasn’t played a Thursday game since 2019 and has only appeared in two Thursday games under head coach Kalani Sitake (0-2).
The Cougars are on a two-game winning streak against the Aggies. Both victories took place in Logan. BYU hasn’t defeated the Ags in Provo since 2016, Taysom Hill’s last game at BYU.
BYU vs East Carolina
Date: Friday, October 28
Kickoff: 6 p.m.
Friday Night Lights comes to Provo in a late October tilt against an East Carolina team that handed BYU one of its worst losses in program history in 2017. However, the Pirates are trending upwards under head coach Mike Houston, winning seven games last season.
BYU is 8-3 in Friday games during the Kalani Sitake era.
BYU vs Utah Tech
Date: Saturday, November 19
Kickoff: 1:30 p.m. (MT)
Depending on how the Big 12 television contract works in the future, this could be one of the final live football games televised on BYUtv. Since becoming an independent in 2011, BYUtv has televised at least one live home BYU football game each season.
