SALT LAKE CITY- He was not the most well-known wide receiver on Utah’s roster from 2013-2014, but Andre Lewis is a Utah Man through-and-through. Lewis recently returned to Salt Lake six years after he graduated to see his coaches and teammates at the Red and White spring game, and capture what makes Utah so special for his YouTube series “So What Do You Do!?” During his visit, Lewis took time to sit with KSL Sports Utes Insider, Michelle Bodkin to talk about his time at Utah and life after football.

Once A Ute, Always A Ute
Lewis came to Utah at a critical period of their transition from being a really good Mountain West Conference team, to trying to be a contender in the Pac-12. In Lewis’ first season with the Utes they had their second straight 5-7 record and fans began questioning whether it was time to move on from head coach Kyle Whittingham. However, Lewis’ second season at Utah was truly a turning point in the Utes’ trajectory in the Pac-12. They finished 2014 9-4 with a big win on the road at Michigan and curb stomped Colorado State in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Utah Utes insider Michelle Bodkin ( @BodkinKSLsports ) sat with former @Utah_Football Wide Reciever @DreLewis15 to discuss the Utes season & life after athletics.

Much like the Utes, Lewis had his own ups and downs while playing for the team. His mother, Rhonda passed away shortly after the end of the 2013 football season. Lewis spent his last year at Utah honoring his mother’s memory by changing his jersey number to 49 (the age she passed away at) and becoming a cult fan favorite due to his willingness to give everyone he encountered a good Utah football experience.
While the effort didn’t result in an illustrious football career, Lewis noted several times throughout the interview that he learned to appreciate “respecting the process”. Not only has that lesson served Lewis well in his life after football, but he also pointed out it has worked for the Utes and their continued growth in the Pac-12.
So What Do You Do!?
Like most former athletes, it took Lewis a while to figure out what it was he wanted to do with his life. Lewis tried on many hats including coaching, gym trainer, and real estate agent before he took a bet on himself and came up with his own YouTube show “So What Do You Do!?”

The premise is simple, Lewis talks to small business owners, entrepreneurs, and other self-made people that are passionate about what they do. Lewis then dissects what makes his interview subjects tick in an effort to offer up his audience some inspiration to find their own passions in life.
Lewis’ most recent season will feature interviews and footage from some of the people and places that meant the most to him from his time playing for the Utes in Salt Lake City. The interviews with Park Cafe and various Utah football staff and players will essentially serve as a love letter from Lewis to Salt Lake and the University of Utah for their part in his growth as a man on and off the field.
