SALT LAKE CITY- Newly minted Jacksonville Jaguar, Devin Lloyd received a special message from his Godparents on Draft night. The NFL Twitter account shared the moment Lloyd heard the heartfelt message and his reaction on Wednesday afternoon.

We’re Not Really Surprised

It is no secret Lloyd came into his last season with the Utes with a plan for success. Lloyd’s senior year ended with 66 tackles, eight sacks that led the Pac-12, and four interceptions- two of which were pick sixes. As his Godfather recalls, Lloyd spoke everything he’s accomplished into existence shortly before the 2021 season started.

“You always demonstrated how goal-oriented you are, how driven you are, the tunnel vision you always had,” Uncle D said. “I remember before the college season started at Utah, you came to the house and we all talked and chopped it up a little bit. I just asked you, I said, ‘Devin, what are some of your personal goals?’ You looked me square in the face and said, ‘Uncle, I want to win a Pac-12 Championship, I want to be an All-American and I want to go number one in the Draft.'”

From The Heart

Lloyd was drafted to Jacksonville last Friday with the 27th pick in the first round. He is expected to have an immediate impact for the Jaguars in the 2022 season, providing help to a defense that last year was less than stellar. Getting the Jaguars up to speed will be no easy task, but Lloyd will always have the love and support of his Godparents and family behind him.

“I think we had that exact conversation probably like less than a day ago,” Lloyd reflected. “I’m just really grateful for them- having them in my life. Everything about the conversation is from the heart. That means a lot to me.”
