About Carlson
Carlson spent two seasons with the Badgers as their backup forward. The six-foot, nine-inch athlete hails from Woodbury, Minnesota. Before he chose Wisconsin, Carlson held offers from Creighton, Xavier, Michigan, and Ohio State.
Carlson had problems staying in the starting lineup at Wisconsin, mostly due to some injuries. Of particular note was a back injury during his freshman season.
During Carlson’s sophomore year he averaged 9.9 minutes, 1.6 points, two rebounds, and .1 assists per game.
Other New Faces
Carlson will be joining a few other new faces to the Utah basketball program. Mike Saunders Jr. joined the Runnin’ Utes via the transfer portal from Cincinnati. Gavin Baxter transferred from BYU. Wilguens Exacte Jr. and Keba Keita are high school signees.
Smith is in his second year with the Utes as he looks to rebuild a once proud program back to prominence. Part of that process has included bringing on former Ute turned coach Chris Burgess as an assistant.
Utah will look to improve upon an 11-20 record in the 2021-’22 season.
