SALT LAKE CITY- Ute Legend, Steve Smith Sr., along with the NFL Network’s NFL 360, will highlight projected first round pick Devin Lloyd’s emergence as a leader for the Utes in the face of tragedy. Utah football’s 2021 season was unprecedented in many ways, but none more so than losing two athletes who were best friends to gun violence in less than a year.
Who else is excited to watch this tonight? 🙋🏻♀️ I was told in an interview for a story coming out on Thursday that 2020-2021 was a HUGE personal growth period for Lloyd as a leader and he took helping his teammates through some tough life moments very personal. #GoUtes #22Forever https://t.co/0kajCmNVAV

Lloyd ultimately stepped up to the challenge both on and off the field for the Utes being the athlete, captain, and brother everyone needed. Smith Sr. returned to his old stomping grounds at Utah to get Lloyd and the Utes’ first-hand account of what happened.
“You Can’t Tell His Story Without His Teammates, Ty Jordan And Aaron Lowe”
Reeling from the deaths of Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe just nine short months apart, the Utes had a decision to make regarding the rest of their season. After a team meeting with Lowe’s mother, Donna Lowe-Sterns, Lloyd and the Utes emerged with renewed determination to honor their teammates’ memories.
Smith Sr. and NFL 360 will do a deep dive into Lloyd’s leadership and desire to make sure Jordan and Lowe found their rightful place in Utah football history. The documentary will also cover Lloyd’s personal growth through heartbreak that helped propel him to being one of 2022’s most desired NFL prospects.
Still Unwritten
Lloyd’s journey will add another chapter in two days on Thursday as he, his parents and coaches head to Las Vegas for the 2022 NFL Draft. It is expected Lloyd will be picked up sometime in the first round.
