Instant Replay: Makai Cope Snags One-Handed Catch During Utah’s Spring Game

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah redshirt freshman wide receiver Makai Cope pulled down an impressive one-handed catch during the Utes’ spring football game.
The Utes held their annual Red vs. White scrimmage at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, April 23.
During the opening quarter of the game, Utah quarterback Cam Rising threw a pass to the far sideline near the 10-yard line.
Cope turned towards the ball, leaped into the air, and reached out to pull the football down with his right hand only.

The play moved the White team near the end zone for a first and goal opportunity on the following play.

After completing the pass to Cope, Rising hit Taniela Pututau for a touchdown to give the White team the first points of the game.
At halftime, the game was knotted at 7-7.

About Makai Cope
Cope has been a member of the Utah football program since 2021.
The Culver City, California native saw action on special teams in two contests last season, including against Ohio State in the Rose Bowl Game.
Coming out of high school, Cope was a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports and Rivals.
