NBA Announces Finalists For 2021-22 MVP Award

SALT LAKE CITY – The NBA announced the finalists for the league’s end-of-season awards, including the players up for the Most Valuable Player honor.
The league unveiled the award finalists on Sunday, April 17.
The following players were named finalists for the 2021-22 NBA MVP:
- Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)
- Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers)
- Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)

Jokic is the NBA’s reigning MVP and Antetokounmpo captured last season’s NBA Finals MVP award.
Prior to Jokic winning the award in 2021, Antetokounmpo earned consecutives MVP honors in 2019 and 2020.
All three players helped lead their teams to berths in the NBA Playoffs.

Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to the No. 3 in the Eastern Conference. Embiid and the Sixers are the East’s No. 4 seed.
Jokic and the Nuggets are the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference.
During the regular season, Embiid led the NBA in scoring with an average of 30.6 points per game. Antetokounmpo ranked third with 29.9 points per game. Jokic averaged 27.1 points for tenth-best in the league.
In addition to scoring, Embiid put up 11.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. Antetokounmpo averaged 11.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.4 blocks. Jokic recorded 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.9 blocks.
The MVP will be announced on TNT during the NBA Playoffs.
