Riverton’s Tanner Banks Makes MLB Debut With Chicago White Sox

SALT LAKE CITY – Riverton’s Tanner Banks made his Major League Baseball debut during the Chicago White Sox’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
The Tigers hosted the White Sox at Comerica Park in Detroit on Sunday, April 10.
After 168 Minor League Baseball appearances, Banks, 30, made his MLB debut against the Lions. He was originally selected by the White Sox during the 18th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.
Banks entered the game in the eighth inning and pitched the final two innings in Chicago’s 10-1 victory over Detroit.

The Riverton, Utah native finished the game with two walks and four strikeouts.
He allowed zero hits and no runs during his time on the mound.

Before his professional career, Banks was a standout player at Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah. Banks played for the Utes from 2013-14.
The win was Chicago’s second of the season and moved the White Sox’s record to 2-1.
