Weber State Football Adds 2022 Season Opener Against Western Oregon

SALT LAKE CITY – The Weber State football program announced that it will host the Western Oregon Wolves for the Wildcats’ 2022 season opener.
Weber State announced the game on Thursday, March 31.
The season opener between the Wolves and Wildcats will take place at Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Utah on Thursday, September 1. It will be the second time that the Wildcats have opened the year at home in the past nine seasons.
The addition of Western Oregon will give Weber State six regular season home games for the second time in the last 13 years.

The Wildcats were originally slated to open their season against James Madison before the Dukes asked to be released from the contracted game. James Madison is making the move up to the FBS level of competition.
Western Oregon is a Division II program from the Lone Star Conference. The university is locatd in Monmouth, Oregon.
Weber State and Western Oregon have never played each other.
Last season, Weber State posted a 6-5 record, including 5-3 in Big Sky Conference contests. Western Oregon had a 4-6 record in 2021.
