BYU’s Alex Barcello Selected To Play In 3-on-3 College Tournament

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball fans will get a few more chances to watch Alex Barcello as a collegiate player. This weekend at the Final Four in New Orleans will be a busy one for Barcello.
The 6-foot-2 guard will compete in the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship as part of the Pac-12/WCC team called “Basketball After Dark (B.A.D.) Boyz” for a chance at winning $150,000.

Alex Barcello will be on a 3-on-3 team with WCC & Pac-12 All-Stars
Barcello joins fellow WCC players PJ Pipes and Josip Vrankick from Santa Clara and Colorado forward Evan Battey from the Pac-12.
The “B.A.D. Boyz” are in Pool C and will begin their quest for a 3-on-3 title on Friday, April 1 at 5:20 p.m. (MT) against a team of all-stars from the SEC and Southern Conference. Barcello and the B.A.D. Boyz will play two other pool games on Friday at 6:40 p.m. against the MEAC/SWAC team and then at 7:40 p.m. against the Horizon and Missouri Valley Conference squad.
How to watch the games
The games will be streamed on the @3X3UHoops Twitter feed. On Friday, the “B.A.D. Boyz” will play another three pool games at 10:50 a.m. (MT), 12:30 p.m., and 2:50 p.m. The last game on Friday involving Barcello’s team will air on ESPNU. ESPN2 will televise the semifinal and championship rounds on Sunday, April 3.
A total of 64 players are in this tournament, and all have declared that they will be pursuing professional basketball opportunities this upcoming season.
3-on-3 rules
The game rules are what you would expect from a traditional 3-on-3 game you’d play with your family and friends. Teams will compete on one basket on a single half-court and will be awarded one point for baskets inside the arc, two points behind the arc. The first team to reach 21 points or the best score after ten minutes wins.

Barcello just completed his third and final season at BYU. He started in all 94 games he played in as a Cougar after transferring from the University of Arizona.

Barcello earned All-WCC First Team honors for the second consecutive season this past year. In three seasons at BYU, Barcello became one of only nine players in program history to finish with at least 1,300 points and 275 assists.
The Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship games are at The Sugar Mill in New Orleans. Fans can attend the games at no charge.
Friday will be a busy day for Barcello as the former Honorable Mention All-American is also scheduled to appear in the Reese’s College All-Star Game at 2:30 p.m. (MT) as part of the West roster. That game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.
