SALT LAKE CITY – It’s strange to not see Britain Covey suit up for Utah football during spring practices but fans have plenty of memories of a successful career.
Britain Covey joined DJ & PK on Tuesday morning to talk about his NFL Draft preparation and his time with Utah football.

Britain Covey’s Memories With Utah Football
Covey was asked if fans come up to him and generically talk about a return, which one he associates it with.
“I think I default to the kick return (against Ohio State),” Covey said. “Because that is what most people remember, I think that was kind of the climax of that game, too. There were like five touchdowns in three minutes. So pretty much everyone in the country was watching that game just because it was so entertaining.”
While getting prepared for the next level, Covey has seen some of his teammates workout in the winter and participate in spring ball.
“I live right by the University of Utah and watching every day the guys show up to spring ball practice,” Covey said. “It kind of makes me happy if I’m being honest, because I’m not there. So during winter conditioning, I would just watch them suffer in the weight room and just kind of gave a sigh of relief that I wasn’t there.”
Another memory that came up was the accidental flea flicker late in the first half against USC. Quarterback Cam Rising misunderstood the play call and thought the coaches called a flea flicker but they originally wanted to run the ball.
“That’s what was hilarious was we called that play before and we ended up handing the ball off,” Covey recalled. “TJ was smart enough to not pitch it back. So the safeties were coming up and that’s why we told Coach, when we came to the sideline, we were like, ‘coach, this will work the safeties were flying out there.’ So we were ready for it. Yeah, I mean, it was funny, because I know a lot of people were like, ‘man, Coach (Andy) Ludwig, it’s uncharacteristic. He just went into his bag. It’s pretty amazing.’ He didn’t mean to call that. It was a kind of a fun memory for our team.”
