Jazz Sign Greg Monroe To 10-Day Contract

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz have signed free agent center Greg Monroe to a 10-day contract according to an announcement by the team.
This is the fourth 10-day deal the Georgetown product has signed this season having already spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Washington Wizards, and most recently the Milwaukee Bucks.
Monroe, 31, is in his 10th year in the NBA but has not been on a full contract with a team over the last two seasons.

For the season, Monroe has averaged 5.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 10 appearances for the three teams.
The Jazz have found themselves suddenly shorthanded in the front court with injuries to centers Rudy Gobert, Hassan Whiteside, and Udoka Azubuike, as well as forward Bojan Bogdanovic.
Bogdanovic missed his eighth straight game on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks as he continues to work his way back from a strained calf.
Azubuike suffered a season-ending ankle injury earlier this month while playing with the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz G Leauge affiliate.

Reserve center Hassan Whiteside missed Friday’s loss to the Charlotte Hornets as well Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks with a right foot sprain.
Gobert was a late scratch ahead of the Dallas loss with a leg contusion.
Monroe has career averages of 13.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 642 regular season games, including 417 starts.
The big man was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the seventh pick of the 2010 NBA draft. Monroe spent five seasons in Detroit before making stops in Milwaukee, Phoenix, Boston, Toronto, and Philly prior to this season.
After Sunday’s loss, the Jazz sit in the fifth seed in the West, one game behind the Mavericks with a record of 45-30 with just eight games left to play.
