Blazers Announce Damian Lillard Will Miss Rest Of 2021-22 Season

SALT LAKE CITY – The Portland Trail Blazers announced that former Weber State guard Damian Lillard will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
Lillard underwent abdominal surgery in the middle of January.
On March 21, the Blazers released the following update on Lillard’s status:
“Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has progressed well through the reconditioning phase of his rehab protocol following his January abdominal surgery. He has met several key performance benchmarks to date and will continue end-stage rehab over the next few weeks. Lillard will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season.”

Lillard last played on December 31, 2021.
In 29 games this season, the former Weber State standout averaged 24.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 0.4 blocks, and 0.6 steals in 36.4 minutes per contest.
Earlier this season, Lillard was recognized as one of the NBA’s 75 greatest players in history. He was honored during halftime of the league’s All-Star Game on February 20.

Lillard was originally selected by the Trail Blazers with the N0. 6 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. He’s played his entire career with Portland.
The Blazers currently own a 26-44 record and are 3.5 games back from the Los Angeles Lakers for a spot in a play-in game.
