Jazz Mitchell Plays Rock, Paper, Scissors With Fan During Blowout

SALT LAKE CITY – What do NBA superstars do when they’re sitting on the sideline during a 40 point blowout? Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell plays rock, paper, scissors with young fans to help pass the time, of course.
Mitchell was ruled out of Friday’s lopsided win over the Los Angeles Clippers due to a calf contusion, and though he was unable to suit up, he still managed to put on a show for the crowd.
In a video posted by the Jazz on Instagram, Mitchell is seen playing rock, paper, scissors with a pair of young fans from the sideline.

Though Mitchell begins the video subtly playing the game with fans on the other side of the court, he quickly rises to his feet to complete the match.
Always competing, Mitchell appears to beat one of the young fans with rock.
The Jazz guard has been a fan-favorite in Utah since he was drafted in 2017, frequently interacting with the youth in the crowd.
Mitchell routinely gives away his shoes before games to youngsters who came early to take in the game.
Mitchell Expected Backs Vs. Knicks
Though Mitchell missed Friday’s game against the Clippers, the guard is expected back tonight against the New York Knicks.
Despite a lengthy injury report for the Jazz, Mitchell was one of the few rotation players not on the list.
Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Danuel House Jr. are all out as the Jazz being their six-game road trip in New York.
Mike Conley is also out tomorrow against the @nyknicks.
Conceivably he will play Monday against the @BrooklynNets.#TakeNote https://t.co/bOQxpdg2uU

Rotation regulars Trent Forrest and Hassan Whiteside are both listed as questionable.
After beginning the road trip against the Knicks, the Jazz will face the Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Clippers before returning to Utah for one home game against the Los Angeles Lakers, before traveling to Golden State to face the Warriors.
