Tate Schmitt Puts RSL Back On Top Early Second Half

SANDY, UT – RSL forward Tate Schmitt put Real Salt Lake back in front in the 54th minute as he fit a ball past the diving keeper, just inside the left post for a 2-1 lead.
Real Salt Lake hosted Nashville SC at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT on Saturday, March 19.
Midfielder Maikel Chang lofted a ball across the box from the right hand side where it eventually came down and after a single bounce, it found the left foot of Tate Schmitt who calmly flipped it into the back of the net.

Continuing to play shorthanded without expected key contributors Damir Kreilach and perhaps more importantly without goal keeper David Ochoa in the early going, RSL has looked strong at times. Despite the lack of options for Mastroeni, Real Salt Lake has managed to remain undefeated throughout the opening three weeks of the season. They are tied atop the Western Conference with LAFC on points.

The goal is the second of the season for Schmitt who also scored in Real’s surprising comeback victory one week ago in New England. It was Chang’s first assist of 2022.
Nashville has and will continue to play all of its fixtures on the road as their new stadium is set to open on May 1st when they host Philadelphia for the 2022 home opener in week 9. So far, Nashville has beaten Seattle 1-0, drew to Minnesota, and suffered defeat against Dallas after conceding two goals in the final 10 minutes of play.
RSL entered the match tied with Minnesota for first place in the Western Conference at eight points. They currently lead 2-1 in the 68th minute.
Real Salt Lake hosts Nashville on Saturday night and the match is available to watch via the KSL Sports or KSL 5 TV app or on KSLsports.com.
