Former USU Standout Patrick Scales Signs Extension With Chicago Bears

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah State standout Patrick Scales signed a contract extension to remain the long snapper for the Chicago Bears.
The Bears announced Scales’ deal on Wednesday, March 16.
NFL free agency officially began hours after Scales’ new contract was announced.
The former Utah State Aggie was slated to become an unrestricted free agent.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Scales’ contract with worth $1.27 million, including over $1 million in guaranteed money.
The #Bears are re-signing veteran long snapper Patrick Scales to a one-year, $1,272,500 deal veteran benefit deal with the maximum $152,500 signing bonus and $1,047,500 total guaranteed, per source.

Prior to his NFL career, Scales played at Utah State from 2006-10.
The North Ogden, Utah native joined the NFL in 2011 when he signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent.
Before joining the Bears in 2015, Scales spent time with the Ravens, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
During his six seasons in Chicago, Scales has played in 86 games.
Last season, the Bears had a 6-11 record.
