Playing without all-star teammates Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert, and backup point guard Trent Forrest also out, Clarkson was forced to pick up even more scoring load than normal in the opening minutes.
Clarkson entered the game and immediately knocked down a step-back three over Richaun Holmes but Clarkson wasn’t close to being done.
The notoriously streaky Clarkson went on to shoot 5-6 in the quarter, knocking down four three-point shots along the way.
Entering play on Saturday night, the reigning NBA sixth-man of the year is averaging 15.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in 63 appearances.
The Jazz struggled to contain De’Aaron Fox in the opening twelve minutes as he scored 20 in the quarter on just 10 shots.
Utah ended the first quarter trailing Sacramento 42-37.
The Jazz and Kings can be heard on The Zone Sports Network. The game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet and FuboTV.
